Chip – security and new opportunities from your payment card
Chips on payment cards are about security and new opportunities. In terms of security, a chip is much more difficult to copy than a magnetic strip, and provides the cardholder with much better protection against fraud. Chip technology also contains many new opportunities for adding new functions to the payment card. This will increase the areas of application and the benefit for both the cardholder and card issuer. PBS is at the forefront of this exciting development.
New opportunities with chips
Chips are not only more secure, they also open the door to new possibilities which will benefit both consumers and merchants alike. The chip is an integrated circuit which can store information, or even a small computer which can constantly be updated. Chips can therefore make new payment options possible, even ones we don't know about yet. The chip technology is already in place, and will support development for many years to come.
